The problem

You issued Revision 4 two weeks ago. You emailed it, like always — a PDF named something like CD-set-rev4-FINAL(2). The general contractor printed the set they already had on the desk, and now there's a wall where the new opening should be.
Version control by email means every recipient owns a private copy of the truth. Some are current, some aren't, and you can't tell from your side which one anybody is looking at. So you field the same message again and again: “Is this the latest?”
The fix isn't a better file name. It's one place where the current set lives — and where a superseded set visibly stops being the current one.

Prepare the next revision
Add a numbered revision to a drawing set and upload the new sheets to it. A draft stays invisible to your client and contractor until you issue it — no half-finished set ever leaks.

Issue it
Issuing stamps the date and promotes the revision in one step: the new set becomes current and the old one is superseded at the same moment. There is never a window with two “current” sets.

Everyone reads the same set
Your client and contractor sign in and see the current revision — only the current revision. Superseded sheets are marked and no longer open for them, so nobody can build from last month's drawings.
